We hope you are having an AWESOME start to your summer! You may be playing beach or taken part in indoor camps to have fun, grow your skills, and to come back to our CAQVC family in late November early December!

* Here are the answers to questions commonly asked about becoming a member of our family/club!!!

My daughter is 12, very keen to play, is she able to play? 

Possibly YES - Following Volleyball Alberta[VA] age classes we start our teams at U13 and give all the girls who are 13 according to VA age class parameters for the year the first opportunity to have a spot on one of our teams. We strongly encourage girls to play with their age group. If there are spaces available with all those who are official 13’s the 12’s will be included also! If not, we ask them to wait for their turn next season.

How are teams decided at U13/14?

We want to keep every athlete we can on our 4 teams of 12 players we offer!!! We have ID Camps that happen the first 2 Sundays in December! 

How many and when do we practice with our U13/14 teams?

U13/14 teams practice 2 times a week for 1.5 hours - one weekday morning 6-7:30am in the GWH performance gym and one Sunday afternoon/evening on the main campus.

How much does a U13/14 club season cost?

We do everything to keep our team fees as low as we can. The cost can range between $800-1000 [It includes gym practice times, VA tournaments, VA competitive player fees, coaching honorariums, coaches travel/hotel costs, practice gear, equipment fees, admin fees, and miscellaneous needs]. Athletes purchase their uniform tops [they keep and potentially use for multiple years] and other team/club gear that may interest them.  

How long is the U13/14 club season?

The season starts with ID Camps in December, then practices begin in January when the athletes start back to school after Christmas Break, and finishing at the end of April after the VA Provincial Tournament!

How many Tournaments does a U13/14 team go to in a season?

There are 3-4 VA events in the club season. They can be located in Edmonton, Calgary or even here in Red Deer!!!

Who will be coaching U13/14 athletes/teams?

Our coaches are all highly dedicated to our athletes, they all must pass the VA Sterling Background Check, and our formal club interview process. Coaches do range in experience from Beginning to Advanced Performance according to the NCCP accreditation process. Coaches can be RDP students, RDP student athletes, parents with volleyball backgrounds, and/or elite coaches in our community.

Teams for 2022-23 Season

We are planning: 

2 teams at each level for U15-18 

4 teams for U13-14!!!

LOI’s, Tryouts and ID camps Teams for 2022-23 Season

We will be using the Volleyball Alberta LOI signing process for our U17-18 complete or partial teams.[team lists to come by August 31st]

We will be holding full tryouts for our U15-16 teams.[2 teams of each]

We will be holding ID camps for our U13-14 teams.[4 teams of each]

Fees for 2022-23 Season

We are still waiting for specifics from gym facilities, VA and VC to complete our focused team budget numbers to give families sharp numbers on 22-23 season costs.
